‘Since Tavon was shot’: A boy, a bullet and the long aftermath

BREAKING NEWS ALERT

Tavon Tanner was shot in the back on his front porch earlier this year, his tiny, 70-pound body ravaged by a bullet that injured his pancreas, stomach, spleen, a kidney, and his left lung. “It would be like me being shot with a small cannonball,” his trauma surgeon said. Eight surgeries later, Tavon, now 11, is still here. This is his story.
